I am the Managing Director and founder of EnviroSystems, a company specialising in innovative solutions aimed at improving animal welfare, farm efficiency, and environmental sustainability. I bring more than five decades of experience working in the livestock and farming industry.
Raised on a dairy farm in Lancashire, I developed a lifelong passion for cows and the family farm from an early age. I began my career at just 17 and, after a short period working in industry with Cadbury’s Confectionery and Schweppes Drinks, returned to agriculture at the age of 25.
I went on to work as a dairy nutritionist across Lancashire and Cumbria for a family-owned feed business, building strong relationships with farmers and gaining first-hand insight into the practical challenges they face.
In 1996, I founded Greenlands Nutrition Ltd, and later EnviroSystems in 2001, a time that proved extremely challenging, setting up two businesses while also raising a young family.
In 2001 we invented the process for turning waste paper fibre from paper mills into highly absorbent, clean and comfortable dairy cow bedding and called the livestock bedding product EnviroBed.
EnviroSystems, now in its 25th year, is a second-generation British family business, firmly positioned to support the livestock industry well into the future.
The company continues to champion healthy livestock, sustainable farming practices, and responsible innovation. Other unique environmentally friendly products innovated by EnviroSystems include SlurryBugs slurry inoculants and a super gentle teat cleaner called EnviroCare Teat.
Alongside running the business, I also focused on the long-term sustainability of my own farming operation. The family’s 130-acre less-favoured area farm is now being managed using regenerative farming practices, reflecting my commitment to resilience, environmental stewardship, and the future of farming.
