Last week was a truly special one for all of us at EnviroSystems — we were honoured to win not one, but two prestigious awards that recognise our commitment to sustainable agriculture and female-led enterprise.
At the National Women in Agriculture Awards in London on 6 May 2025, we were named Business of the Year. Sponsored by the NFU (National Farmers Union), this award celebrates a female-led business that demonstrates consistent growth, innovation, and leadership in the agricultural sector. As a company founded by Liz Russell in 2001 — and still proudly female-led — this recognition means a great deal.

Just a few days later, we were also thrilled to receive The Green Award at the North West Family Business Awards 2025, celebrating our environmental values and commitment to sustainability.

From the very beginning, EnviroSystems has had a clear mission: to develop science-led solutions that improve animal welfare and farm performance — all while reducing environmental impact.
We’re perhaps best known for EnviroBed — our flagship product made from 100% recycled paper crumble, dried to 95% dry matter using renewable heat. It gives farmers a low-carbon alternative to traditional bedding, and embodies the circular approach that also earned us a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
Liz, our founder, was thrilled at winning both awards, saying: “I started the business with a blank sheet of paper and a vision to create high-quality bedding for dairy cows using a by-product from the paper industry. That invention became EnviroBed, and it’s still going strong today — now made using renewable heat at Foggs Farm in Lancashire, and at our plants in Gloucestershire and Yorkshire.
“From day one, we’ve been passionate about developing sustainable solutions that make a genuine difference on farm, while building a business rooted in innovation, diversity, and environmental responsibility. Winning two awards in one week is a truly proud moment.”
